Edenham High School Year 9 Football Surrey Cup Final Winners
On Wednesday 24 April 2013 the Edenham High School Year 9 Football team won the Surrey Cup final, which was held at Chelsea’s Training Centre in Cobham. The title has been held by Edenham on previous occasions the last time being back in 2005. Edenham played Whitgift School in the final and it was a very close run game. The Year 9 team had a good spell of possession and after conceding goals to Whitgift, they came back with goals from Dejaun Blake and Yaw Oppong Mensah taking the game to 3-2 at Half Time.

The second half began well with a goal from Richard Pingling (Edenham) taking the game to 3-3.  Whitgift came back and scored another goal against Edenham then Richard Pingling whipped in a left footed free kick to bring the score level again. The battle for the cup title continued with fantastic goals from, Marc Kelledy and Liam Rhoden (Edenham) taking the score to 6-4 in Edenham’s favour.  When the final whistle blew Edenham were awarded the Surrey Cup title that they had fought so hard for. The staff and students are still celebrating the Year 9 boys for their splendid effort on the pitch! We are very proud of them.
